I rarely disagree with The Master, but I think that Rush Limbaugh is wrong to imply that Colin Powell endorsed Barach Obama because of race. It seems more likely that Powell, still stung by his identification with the Bush administration and the memory of having pitched the United Nations on the WMDs, Powell simply wants to get back into the Washington establishment. It’s partly that (like our anti-Palin conservative pundits), he wants to be cool again. He is. But it does seem that a former secretary of state in a Republican administration might have kept his silence. It’s not as if Barack is behind in the polls—this is a very safe thing for Powell to do.
