“Just a guy in the neighborhood.” That’s how Barack Obama described Bill Ayers, the unrepentant Weatherman bomber-as though Ayers were someone The One occasionally encountered on the sidewalk while walking his dog instead of the man with whom he funneled $150 million to fund courses in radicalism in the Chicago school system and also helped launch his political career.

Well, according to Jake Tapper’s blog for ABC News (hat tip: Drudge), Ayers might have been more than just a guy in the neighborhood, but he sure hasn’t been anything less. Ayers was spotted voting at the same Shoesmith Elementary school in Chicago’s arty-radical Hyde Park neighborhood where Obama cast his ballot this morning.

And so was Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan, the guy who called Judaism a “gutter religion” and said the Hurricane Katrina debacle was part of a deliberate plot to wipe out black people.

As Tapper put it, “Welcome to the South Side of Chicago.”
