Washington, D.C. — In response to Federal Judge Roger Vinson's issuance today of a stay of his January 31st ruling of ObamaCare unconstitutional, Independent Women's Voice President and CEO Heather Higgins today released the following statement:
"While Judge Vison has stayed the injunctive element of his ruling, the fundamental finding of his opinion remains: ObamaCare is as unconstitutional today as it was on January 31st when the ruling was issued, and as it was when it was passed.
"In his opinion, Judge Vinson rightly noted that 'the citizens of this country have an interest in having this case resolved as soon as practically possible.' But instead acting swiftly in the interest of final resolution of ObamaCare's unconstitutionality, the Obama Justice Department chose to sit on their hands for nearly three weeks before filing a request for 'clarification' of the obvious meaning of the ruling.
"The Obama Administration also continued to implement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act while they were evidently 'unclear' as to whether Vinson's ruling barred them from doing so.
"The actions of the Obama Administration in dragging their feet in the legal process and deliberately ignoring a federal judge's order to stop implementation of the Act demonstrates as much of a disregard for the rule of law as does ObamaCare itself.
"Hopefully, as this legal process for this unconstitutional health care bill proceeds, the Obama Administration will choose to act like adults and respect the rule of law."
