(Washington D.C.) – Following Rep. Steve King's advancement in Iowa's 4th congressional district elections, Independent Women’s Voice President and CEO Heather R. Higgins released the following statement:
“Rep. Steve King's unchallenged advancement in IA-04 as the Republican incumbent is a victory for all Americans who support patient-centered health care reform. That's because Rep. King signed the Repeal Pledge, which shows that he is committed to undoing the damage that is being done to our health care system by ObamaCare and embracing positive, patient-centered reforms.
"On behalf of the Independent Women's Voice, I congratulate Rep. King and wish him all the best in the November election. Rep. King can be confident that IWV—and all Americans who support repealing ObamaCare—will be pulling for another victory.”
The Repeal Pledge advocates not just repeal, but defunding, deauthorizing, and dismantling the misleadingly-titled Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, enacted in early 2010. The Repeal Pledge was designed as a litmus test to help the American public understand which candidates and office holders are serious about repeal, versus those who claim to be but won't actually take action.??Signers of the Repeal Pledge believe that this law cannot be "fixed" and that stopping its implementation and ultimately repealing it are necessary first steps to ensure that citizens and their doctors, not government bureaucrats, have choice and control over their health care, and that medical care in our country becomes more affordable and available.
