Recent seismic events on the political right – the losses by both Majority Leader Eric Cantor on Tuesday and last week by longtime Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran – point to a little-noticed pattern with significant implications for the fall.

In Virginia, challenger Dave Brat had signed the Repeal Pledge on ObamaCare, while former Majority Leader Cantor did not.  Similarly, in Mississippi, another underfunded challenger, Chris McDaniel, also signed the Repeal Pledge, while the incumbent Sen. Cochran did not.
