KING V. BURWELL NATIONAL POLL:

Majority of Americans Strongly Support SCOTUS Returning ObamaCare to Original Terms While Helping Those Whose Subsidies Are In Danger

WASHINGTON D.C. – In advance of the March 4th King v. Burwell hearing, Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) released the only comprehensive survey on Americans’ thoughts about the crucial Supreme Court case questioning the IRS and ObamaCare’s implementation in federal-exchange states. IWV commissioned Wilson Perkins Allen Research to survey 1,000 likely voters in all the potentially affected federal-exchange states plus Nevada and Colorado.

While awareness about the King v. Burwell case remains low (61 percent of respondents have heard little or nothing), after hearing more about the challenge and the legal arguments 59 percent sided with the plaintiffs, 25 percent supported the government, and 16 percent remained unsure.

If the Supreme Court sides with the plaintiffs and six million people lose ObamaCare subsidies, three-quarters of Americans says it is very or somewhat important to provide transition assistance, especially to those who face extreme hardships. Half of all respondents trust states, over President Obama (29 percent) and Congress (12 percent), to offer a solution.
