WASHINGTON, DC – Orinda Mayor Steve Glazer has won the Special Election for California Senate District 7. Glazer, a Democrat, prevailed in the race undeterred by the liberal opposition’s self serving and inaccurate attempts to categorize Independent Women's Voice (IWV) as a Koch front group (despite IWV never having received any Koch money). Following the news, Independent Women's Voice President & CEO Heather R. Higgins released the following statement:
"On behalf of Independent Women's Voice, I want to congratulate Steve Glazer on his resounding victory in Senate District 7. This is a great victory for East Bay Area families, who have made it clear that they want to move their state in a new direction.
"Steve Glazer realizes it's time for change in Sacramento. Voters are ready for political leaders who are willing to hold government accountable, restore fiscal responsibility and stand up to powerful and moneyed interests, including the unreasonable demands of unions. “It is crucial that we restore government to promoting accountability and economic freedom. The people of Senate District 7 have paved the way for that positive path forward in California."
Independent Women's Voice is a 501(c)(4) nonpartisan, nonprofit organization for mainstream women, men and families dedicated to promoting limited government, free markets, and personal responsibility. IWV is an affiliate organization of the Independent Women's Forum.
