Statement: IWV Congratulates Rep. Ron DeSantis on Entering Florida Senate Race
WASHINGTON, DC – Following news that Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-06) has entered the GOP Primary for U.S. Senate in Florida, Independent Women's Voice President & CEO Heather R. Higgins released the following statement:
“I applaud Rep. DeSantis on his decision to enter Florida’s GOP Senate Primary race. As a signer of the ObamaCare Repeal Pledge, we know that Rep. DeSantis is committed to the full and complete repeal of this harmful law. Importantly, he has been a champion for the cause of undoing the unfair special Washington Exemption to ObamaCare. He understands that there shouldn’t be any special treatment for Washington, and that Congress should also have to live under the laws that they have created for all Americans.
"Moreover, DeSantis realizes it's time for a culture change in Washington, considering how years of runaway spending has only added to our debt. As a co-sponsor of the No Budget, No Pay Act, he has taken a lead on steering lawmakers to get serious on passing a budget resolution.
“It is critical that we have as many people committed to government accountability, fiscal responsibility, and full and complete repeal/replace of ObamaCare as possible in the U.S. Senate. The people of Florida can be confident that Rep. DeSantis is one of those people. We wish him the best in this endeavor."
