Bismarck, ND — Today, Independent Women’s Voice announced that Paul Sorum (R-ND) has signed the ObamaCare Repeal Pledge. Sorum is a candidate for governor in North Dakota.

"Paul Sorum’s decision to take Pledge shows he gets it when it comes to health care,” said Heather R. Higgins, President and CEO of Independent Women's Voice. “This clearly demonstrates to voters his commitment to the full and complete repeal of ObamaCare, and to doing all he can as governor to protect North Dakotans from the harms it is causing across the country.”

“Paul understands the harm that ObamaCare has already caused through increased premiums and costs, and a decreasing quality of care,” added Higgins. “ObamaCare means bigger government. It means less freedom. It means people have less choice and control in their health care decisions. And all of this will continue to grow worse if ObamaCare isn’t turned back.”

"In 2011, I introduced the 'Healthcare Freedom Act' through my state representative, Jim Kasper," said Paul Sorum. This amendment to the North Dakota Constitution would have prevented the federal government from regulating health insurance in North Dakota — stopping ObamaCare dead in its tracks. As governor, I will oppose the further implementation of ObamaCare that is robbing North Dakotans of affordable health insurance."

"The Repeal Pledge was designed as a litmus test to help the American public understand which candidates and office holders are serious about repeal, versus those who claim to be but won't actually take action," continued Higgins.  "With this commitment, Paul Sorum passes that test."
