You probably already suspect that something has gone off the rails when it comes to our system of government.  And one of the biggest problems is that government agencies like HHS and the EPA are too often in the business of writing laws.  But As IWF’s legal fellow Erin Hawley explains in a new legal brief, the problem is even worse than that:

America’s administrative state now wields vast power over nearly every aspect of daily life. From setting up a business to building a home to accessing contraceptives, it is often an administrative agency that writes, enforces, and adjudicates the legal standards that govern these activities.

This is not how our government is supposed to operate.  Our Constitution sought to divide power between the three branches of government, expressly to protect individual liberty and prevent the consolidation of power within the government. And this is the idea that we must return to get our country back on track.
