ONE STEP CLOSER TO REPEAL, SENATE HAS CHANCE TO RE-DO HEALTH CARE THAT WORKS FOR ALL
Independent Women’s Voice Applauds Senate Vote on Motion to Proceed on ObamaCare Repeal
WASHINGTON, DC – Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) Policy Director Hadley Heath Manning issued the following statement after Senate passed a key procedural vote on ObamaCare repeal legislation:
“Independent Women’s Voice applauds Senators for moving to proceed to debate on health reform legislation. This is a debate that we all want our legislators to have, with the ultimate result of greater choices, lower costs, and more secure and higher quality health care for all. ObamaCare was passed with good intentions, but the results have been disappointing: cancelled insurance plans, skyrocketing premiums and out-of-pocket costs, broken doctor-patient relationships, and overburdened social safety nets, harming vulnerable people the most.
"By opening up debate, Senators have the opportunity to consider a variety of ideas that will undo the harms of ObamaCare. We can address ever-increasing health costs with greater transparency and choice through more robust market competition, and we can focus on strengthening our healthcare safety nets for those in need, including people with pre-existing health conditions. ObamaCare has benefitted some Americans, but at the expense of many others. We need a health policy that works for everyone, and we can get there. The first step is repealing ObamaCare."
