WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s Voice President and CEO Heather R. Higgins issued the statement below on President Trump signing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law:

"Holiday celebrations have started early as Americans can toast President Trump's signature on a set of tax cuts and reforms that will change Americans' lives for the better: allowing us to keep more of our hard-earned dollars and creating more opportunities to live the American Dream.

"Even before the ink was on the page, U.S. corporations responded to the new corporate tax rate — now much closer to the global average — by rewarding workers with bonuses, raising their minimum wages, investing in workforce development and even boosting their charitable giving. 
 
"It's a shame that many leaders on the left continue to emphasize rhetoric over reality, refusing to recognize how lower taxes will boost American prosperity. Americans at all income levels will see a tax cut, and the benefits of these reforms will be shared far and wide, making for a very merry Christmas, and an even happier New Year."
