A beauty salon in Iowa recently faced backlash on social media for NOT discriminating against a client who needed her hair styled for an event.

Yes, you read that right.

On Monday, Ivanka Trump traveled to Iowa to tour the Waukee school district's Aspiring Professional Experience program (APEX) and stopped by Salon Spa W, a popular beauty salon in Des Moines, for an appointment prior to the event. The salon posted a picture of Ivanka with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on its Facebook page.

“Our Monday kicked off with styling Ivanka Trump for her visit to Iowa! We [love] supporting women in politics,” the post read.

The caption has since been removed.

Hundreds of followers were outraged by the post and many threatened to boycott the establishment solely for styling the hair of a woman they disagree with. A few even called the photo “f—ing gross.”

On Tuesday, the salon’s president, China Wong, who was taken aback by the negative response, deleted the original caption and replaced it with a statement, saying, “We believe everyone matters and deserves our indiscriminate care and kindness.”

It’s unfortunate that Ms. Wong was forced to state the obvious. It should go without saying that everyone matters and deserves indiscriminate care and kindness.

Moreover, this is not how we #ChampionWomen. ALL women should be treated with respect and civility, especially those who devote their time and talents to serving their communities and country.
