Actor and comedian Jim Carrey painted a grotesque likeness of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. He didn't stop there though.

Carrey tweeted out a photo of what appears to be Sanders with the caption:

"This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!"

Twitter users identified the woman as Sanders and many were quick to call out Carrey for both the sexist picture and for mocking her faith.

As Fox News reports:

@tonguepiercerJames Woods, do you have a comment about Jim Carrey and the insulting portrait he has presented of Sarah Sanders?

@Mdgatza: What a disgraceful thing to do. Jim Carrey Paints Sarah Huckabee Sanders – It's Not a Pretty Picture https://www.thewrap.com/jim-carrey-painted-sarah-huckabee-sanders-portrait/

@delainegordonThis is just one more example of how Hollyweird empowers women! #JimCarrey is just doing his portion, right Jim? He's a has been!!- Dhee G. https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/86812c7a-0c83-3cda-a0f6-eb6de84a7469/jim-carrey-painted-a-sarah.html?.tsrc=fauxdal

Scrolling through Carrey's feed reveals that he is not a conservative supporter and regularly paints controversial attacks on conservatives. However, this painting of Sanders is sexist and intolerant

Carrey's portrait joins a string of personal attacks on Sanders for the way she looks. Cher slammed Sanders for dressing like a "Sister Wife," referring to women who dress modestly and practice polygamy.  Last year, Los Angeles Times cartoonist and writer David Horsey penned a vicious attack on Sanders calling her a liar and making fun of her weight, saying she looked like a "chunky soccer mom." A Daily Beast also reporter called Sanders a "butch queen."

As society is grappling with how to ensure women are treated with respect, actors like Carrey who are intolerant of differing viewpoints are undermining the effort to lift all women up.

Conservative women in public eye, but especially those working in the Trump Administration, face indefensible attacks on their looks, intelligence, and character simply because of the jobs they hold.

Feminists and women who fight for the rights of all women should not remain silent against such attacks. We must #championwomen, not malign them.
