First Lady Melania Trump has the privilege of choosing how to decorate parts of the White House for Christmas. This year, she chose gorgeous red trees to adorn the front hallway.
It seems nothing the First Lady does can escape criticism — and the trees were quickly labeled "creepy" and resembling "The Handmaid's Tale."
It's unfortunate that because some people disagree politically with her husband, they find it acceptable to take shots at her as well. There's no doubt Mrs. Trump has had to develop tough skin the past two years — and she showcased that when asked about the tree criticism yesterday during her speech at Liberty University, saying this:
“I think they look fantastic…we're in the 21st century, everyone has different taste. I hope everybody will come over and visit it. In real life, they look even more beautiful and you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the People’s House.”
It really is that simple: everyone has different tastes. It doesn't matter what Trump had chosen, someone would have found a way to bring negativity into it. Thankfully, she's learned to rise above the bitterness and celebrate the opportunity to decorate the White House.
