Meaningful Measures to Bring Real Price Transparency in Health Care

Washington, DC — There will be no real choices or affordability in health care until patients, doctors, and employers see real price discovery, not the system of deliberate price obscurity which presently exists and benefits middlemen while hurting everyone else.

In advance of further pledged actions from the White House to boost price transparency in health care and protect Americans from exorbitant medical costs, Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) will host a press call at 3:30 pm ET, May 22, 2019, to address meaningful measures that will bring real price transparency to consumers and create a real healthcare marketplace.

  • Tom Coburn, MD: Former US senator, congressman, and physician
  • Cynthia Fisher: Life sciences entrepreneur, CEO, and passionate patient rights advocate
  • Marty Makary, MD: Health policy professor at John Hopkins University
  • Heather R. Higgins: CEO of Independent Women's Voice
  • Hadley Heath Manning: Policy director and healthcare policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice

IWV wants health care that is affordable, accessible, and full of the choices people actually want delivered in a timely way. IWV has been educating Americans on why the most important policy change to allow this is price transparency, and has been driving comments to the Department of Health and Human Services on regulations that would make the marketplace for healthcare goods and services more transparent, affordable, and fair for patients.
