IWV Urges 15 Governors to Act Against FGM in Their States

Letter urges legislation outlawing female genital mutilation

Washington, DC — Independent Women’s Voice today sent letters to governors of 15 states whose laws offer no formal protection for women and girls against the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). To mark the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, Independent Women’s Voice is urging each governor to take action and enact legislation to outlaw FGM.
