Dear Members of Congress,

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed workers in difficult situations through loss of jobs, furloughs, and school and daycare closures. Essential workers have overcome hardships to continue to work in these trying times and oil and gas workers are no exception.

Independent Women’s Voice is proud to support the Keystone XL Pipeline Construction and Jobs Preservation Act. President Biden’s decision to rescind the border crossing permit and cancel the Keystone Pipeline has cost thousands of hard-working Americans their jobs. Instead of delivering on his promise of focusing his energy policy upon creating jobs for Americans, President Biden has destroyed jobs, and jobs that help provide affordable energy for Americans and protect our environment.

That’s the saddest irony of President Biden’s move to revoke the Keystone XL pipeline permit:  It forces us to rely on countries who emit more carbon and have lower emissions standards in their energy creation. It is a step backward in terms of the environment.

Clean energy is the future for our country, but that does not mean we should reject reliable and affordable energy sources that have brought millions of jobs to Americans. Particularly as we work to recover from the economic effects of this coronavirus pandemic, our lawmakers must be focused on creating American jobs, not destroying opportunities.

We thank Representatives Scalise, McCarthy and Armstrong as well as the 83 other House Republicans for their leadership in supporting American workers, and we urge you to join them and support the Keystone XL Pipeline Construction and Jobs Preservation Act.

Sincerely,

Hadley Heath Manning
