For citizens and non-citizens alike, the U.S. has strict COVID-19 policies for those entering the United States legally via air travel. But a new executive order creates different, lower COVID standards for people illegally entering the USA at the land border.

There is simply NO public health reason to impose greater restrictions on people entering the country via airplanes than on those entering on land. There is absolutely NO reason why those entering the country illegally should face fewer barriers due to COVID than those entering legally, including citizens of the United States.

This is a direct attack against the progress we’ve made across the country to combat COVID. This isn’t a political issue: it’s a matter of public health.
