WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tomorrow, July 21st at 9 a.m. ET, Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) will hold an “Access to Contraception” press call featuring OnMessage Inc. founding partner Brad Todd and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) to underscore the overwhelming support among Republican primary voters for safe access to contraceptives.
The press call will take place in advance of the House of Representatives vote on H.R. 8373, the Right to Contraception Act.
According to a new poll commissioned by IWV and conducted by OnMessage Inc., 84% of likely Republican primary voters nationwide support safe access to contraceptives, with 74% strongly supporting. This finding is consistent across gender, age, and education. The survey was conducted between July 5 and 7, 2022 among 1,000 likely Republican primary voters nationwide, with a margin of error of + / – 3.1%.
The poll also found that these voters draw a clear distinction between methods that prevent pregnancy, such as the pill and IUDs, and medications that end pregnancy. Nearly 83% of likely Republican voters who self-identified as pro-life agree that supporting legal and accessible contraception is a pro-life position, with this attitude among all GOP primary voters strongest among suburban women and women under age 40.
The “Access to Contraception” press call will take place on Thursday, July 21st at 9:00 a.m. ET.
