Dear Members of Congress,
Independent Women’s Voice (IWV), which fights to enhance people’s freedom, opportunities, and well-being, supports H.J. Res. 38 to amend the Constitution to guarantee parental rights.
Not so long ago, it was well understood that children belong to their families, not to the state. Sadly, today loving parents are all too often shut out of discussions regarding the best interests of their children. This is not acceptable.
The Parental Rights Amendment would create a constitutional presumption that children’s interests are best represented by their parents. It affirms that parental rights are fundamental rights and that a parent’s liberty interest in directing his or her children’s upbringing, education, and care includes the right to educational choice. We couldn’t agree more.
We thank Representative Debbie Lesko for her leadership on this important issue and strongly urge all members to put kids and families first by signing on in support of this amendment to protect parental rights.
