WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) today announced Riley Gaines, advisor at IWV and former 12-time NCAA All-American swimmer, will provide testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. ET. In her testimony, Gaines will focus on threats to women’s rights, the vicious efforts to silence women, and the biological reality that there are two sexes.
Gaines’s testimony will focus on her personal story, from a 12-time NCAA All-American swimmer at the University of Kentucky who famously competed against and tied biological male Lia Thomas to a fearless defender of women’s rights to privacy, single-sex spaces, and opportunities. Gaines argues that defending women’s rights and believing in biology is not anti-anyone but rather is pro-woman. During this hearing, Gaines will attest to the fact that there are two sexes – woman and man.
In her testimony, Gaines states, in part, “The number of female athletes who have been denied opportunities, traumatized, or hurt by policies that claim to promote ‘inclusion’ is growing at an alarming rate. I have heard from female athletes who have been seriously injured – one with permanent injuries that will plague her for the rest of her life – because she was forced to compete against a much physically stronger man. This is simply unacceptable and the integrity of women’s sports is lost. It is unfair, and it is discriminatory. And it must stop.”
Areas of concern that Gaines will address and focus on in her testimony include:
- The erasure of women and the threat to women’s rights and single-sex spaces;
- Vicious effort to silence, intimidate, and emotionally blackmail women; and
- The shocking denial of science, common sense, and fact that there are two sexes and very real differences between the sexes.
