WASHINGTON, D.C. — Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) today announced Paula Scanlan, IWV ambassador and former swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, will join members of Congress, including U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS), U.S. Senator “Coach” Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-IL-15) for a panel discussion on Capitol Hill on the dangers of gender ideology and preserving the integrity of women’s sports. The panel will take place at 3:00 p.m. ET on November 20.
The panel will expose the harms of gender ideology, including the impact of allowing men in women’s private spaces, especially among women who have experienced sexual trauma, and the irreversible medicalization of American children occurring under the guise of “gender-affirming” care. The panel will examine legislative solutions to preserve women’s rights to privacy, safety, and equal opportunity, address the Biden-Harris administration’s illegal rewrite of Title IX, and delve into the “affirmation-only” model that leaves children with irreversible damage to their healthy bodies and minds.
Speakers at the panel, hosted by U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and the American Principles Project, will include:
- U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS);
- U.S. Senator “Coach” Tommy Tuberville (R-AL);
- U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-IL-15);
- Paula Scanlan, Independent Women’s Voice ambassador and former University of Pennsylvania swimmer;

IWV has been sounding the alarm on the dangers of radical gender ideology. Learn more below:
- IW Features, the storytelling platform of IWV, is documenting the real stories of detransitioners, experts, and parents fighting to protect children from the harms of gender ideology in its “Identity Crisis” series, found here.
- Independent Women’s Forum, IWV’s sister organization, earlier this year announced a landmark legal victory in a lawsuit brought by detransitioner and IW Ambassador Prisha Mosley against her “gender-affirming” medical providers, alleging medical malpractice.
- IW Features’ female athlete storytelling drive features real stories from women athletes testifying to the male takeover of female spaces can be found here.
- IWF and Independent Women’s Law Center have produced a first-of-its-kind report entitled, “Competition Report: Title IX, Male-Bodied Athletes, and the Threat To Women’s Sports,” to help athletic associations, policymakers, and courts understand the distinct biological differences between men and women which cannot be mitigated by hormone therapy.
- Scanlan joined members of Congress earlier this year for a roundtable discussion on how the Biden-Harris administration’s Title IX rewrite, to include ‘gender identity’ as a protected class, endangers women.
- Scanlan previously testified before Congress on her experience as a sexual assault survivor of being forced without her consent to share a locker room with a male.
