WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Independent Women (IW) is proud to announce that professional golfers Lauren Miller, Hannah Arnold, Dana Fall, and Amy Olson have joined the organization as ambassadors in their ongoing advocacy efforts to urge the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), as the world’s most prestigious women’s golf organization, and the United States Golf Association (USGA) and International Golf Federation (IGF) to reimplement sex-based eligibility policies that maintain the integrity of women’s golf.
Under current LPGA, USGA, and IGF policies, male golfers are allowed to compete in women’s events, despite the fact that male golfers have an estimated 30% performance advantage in driving distance compared to female golfers.
The latest multi-part documentary series produced by Independent Women’s Forum’s (IWF) new storytelling platform, IW Features, “Tee Time: Keep Women’s Golf Female,” calls for an end to participation policies that erase equal opportunity and the spirit of women’s professional golf. The ongoing series will feature first-hand stories of current female professional golfers and their love for the game, including IW Ambassadors Lauren Miller and Hannah Arnold.
Watch the first episode of “Tee Time” featuring pro-golfer Lauren Miller here.
The first episode in the series, released today, highlights Miller’s lifelong love for golf and her experience competing against Hailey Davidson, a male golfer who identifies as female, in the LPGA’s 2024 Qualifying Series for the pinnacle of women’s golf: a spot on the LPGA Tour. Miller gained national attention after losing a first-place title at the 2024 NXXT Women’s Championship to Davidson.
In conjunction with the series, IW launched a global letter campaign that equips the public with a form to send personalized letters to the leadership of LPGA, USGA, and IGF to demand the establishment of policies that enforce the participation in women’s golf based on sex.
This campaign comes on the heels of letters to the LPGA, USGA, and IGF, signed by hundreds of female professional golfers, outlining numerous golf-specific findings of male athletic advantage that cannot be mitigated with testosterone suppression.
As IW ambassadors, Lauren Miller, Hannah Arnold, Dana Fall, and Amy Olson will continue to advocate for the protection and integrity of women’s golf and embolden other female golfers to use their voices to ensure future generations of women have the opportunity to step up to the tee.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining Independent Women’s Forum as an ambassador! Working with an organization that boldly fights for and champions women and girls in all spaces empowers and inspires me daily! I appreciate IWF giving me the confidence and courage to use my voice and platform to promote justice for women!” said Lauren Miller.
“I’m glad to do my part in keeping women’s sports female. I consider myself very fortunate to reap from the spoils of the LPGA founders and Title IX trailblazers. But the fight isn’t over and we must carry the torch to the next generation of female athletes,” said Hannah Arnold.
“I’m honored to stand with the other Women Ambassadors of Independent Women’s Forum. We need to protect current and future women golfers. Having biological men compete against us is simply not fair,” said Dana Fall.
“I’m grateful for the opportunities women’s golf has given me. Right now we are facing unprecedented challenges to maintain those opportunities. Our own compassion is being weaponized against us, leading us to be replaced in teams, tournaments, and the winner’s circle. The future of women’s golf will be determined by the boldness and courage of this current generation,” said Amy Olson.
Miller, Arnold, Fall, and Olson join other female athletes who serve as IW ambassadors in the fight to save women’s sports, including Coach Kim Russell, Paula Scanlan, Riley Gaines, Payton McNabb, and Sia Li’ili’i.
BACKGROUND ON IW AMBASSADORS:
IW is proud to bring unique and personal insight into the biggest issues facing Americans today through its ambassador program. IW ambassadors are storytellers and advocates who champion a policy issue area by continuing to tell their story and call for change through op-eds, speaking engagements, testimony before federal and state legislatures, and media interviews.
IW ambassadors have been integral voices in the fight to protect women’s spaces:
- IW ambassadors have testified before Congress on the impact of allowing biological males in women’s private spaces and the dangers of the Biden-Harris administration’s changes to Title IX; met with dozens of lawmakers to highlight the need for federal legislation that protects women’s sports; joined U.S. senators for a roundtable discussion on preserving Title IX; and joined Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for a panel discussion during National Women’s Sports Week.
- Written firsthand testimony from IW Ambassador Amie Ichikawa, a former inmate in the California state prison system, was instrumental in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s decision to block the nomination of Judge Sarah Netburn to a U.S. District Court following Netburn’s history of allowing men to transfer into women’s prisons.
- IW ambassadors have rallied outside the 2023 and 2024 NCAA Annual Conventions, the USA Cycling National Championships, and the U.S. Women’s Open to demand sports governing bodies end discriminatory policies that take away opportunities for women to compete.
- IW ambassadors headlined the Our Bodies, Our Sports “Take Back Title IX” Summer 2024 Bus Tour across America, traveling throughout 30 states in 30 days to share their stories and sound the alarm on the Biden-Harris administration’s Title IX rewrite.
- Detransitioner and IW Ambassador Prisha Mosley has worked to expose the irreversible medicalization of children taking place under the guise of “gender-affirming care” nationwide. In New Mexico this year, specifically, sharing her story resulted in severe media bias against Prisha and a Cease-and-Desist letter issued by Independent Women’s Law Center, calling for Prisha’s authentic story to be shared.
- With IW ambassadors sharing their stories and breaking into the media—and IW Features, the storytelling arm of IW, providing a platform for more voices to be heard—anti-women policies are being exposed as support for pro-women, pro-fairness, and pro-safety policy grows.
