WASHINGTON, D.C. — On March 8, the House Appropriations Committee released the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. This bill would fund the operations of the federal government for the remainder of this fiscal year.
Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) at Independent Women, issued the following statement:
“Independent Women supports the proposed clean continuing resolution and urges every member to vote yes. This CR is fiscally responsible and provides President Trump and Congress breathing room to make significant spending cuts while preserving core government services for Americans. Congress cannot work on other high-importance priorities for women and households such as preventing a historical tax increase at the end of the year, if there is a looming shutdown.
“As agency heads work with the Department of Government Efficiency to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, they should not be halted by a needless government shutdown. A whopping 75% of Americans support the Trump deregulatory, cost-cutting agenda. They want their elected leaders to join that mission.
“Instead of working in a bipartisan manner to keep the federal government working, leftist policymakers are threatening to hijack this process and shut down the government. Americans gave conservatives a mandate to rightsize Washington, and this CR is a step in this process. Congress should not hesitate to pass it.”
