WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Independent Women’s Voice calls on the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Senate-passed amendment to H. Con. Res. 14, which establishes the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025 and sets forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034. This amendment is a crucial step toward preventing tax increases on American workers, families, and small businesses while ensuring continued economic growth.

Patrice Onwuka, senior policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice, issued the following statement:

“Independent Women strongly urges all members of the House of Representatives to vote yes on the Senate-passed amendment to the House budget resolution. This is a critical step toward preventing taxes from rising on American workers, households, and small businesses.

“Massive majorities of women (78%), Gen Z (72%), and independent (78%) voters join 79% of voters overall in expressing support for the tax cuts to be made permanent according to our recent polling. After the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was passed in 2017, wages rose significantly, millions of jobs were created, businesses expanded, and workers gained critical new benefits.

“Lawmakers should come together without delay to ensure economic certainty and prosperity by making the tax cuts permanent.”
