WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women, a leading national women’s organization dedicated to advancing policies that enhance opportunity and well-being, issued the following statement on President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill”:
Beth Parlato, senior legal advisor of Independent Women’s Law Center, said:
“The provision to prohibit Medicaid funding for irreversible sex-change procedures for minors is a constitutionally sound and fiscally responsible measure. Irreparably harming children through experimental cross-sex interventions must never be funded by the government. Independent Women’s Law Center supports this bill as a necessary step in protecting the health and welfare of children. By drawing a clear line, the One Big Beautiful Bill affirms the role of the state in safeguarding minors and upholding the prudent use of taxpayer resources within the bounds of legitimate government interest.”
Ahead of a final vote on the “Big, Beautiful Bill” in the House of Representatives, Independent Women’s Network is actively engaging with constituents across the country and encouraging them to contact their elected representatives in support of the bill.
