WASHINGTON, D.C. Independent Women commends the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee for advancing the Flexibility for Workers Education Act (H.R. 2262) and the Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act (H.R. 2270) and urges all U.S. House Members to support both pieces of legislation on the floor to empower the American workforce and reduce red tape.

Patrice Onwuka, senior policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice, on the Flexibility for Workers Education Act:

“The workforce is grappling with a skills gap that has sidelined many Americans. At the same time, millions of positions languish unfilled as employers indicate they cannot find qualified workers. The Flexibility for Workers Education Act modernizes federal law in a way that could encourage employers to invest in the development of their staff. We thank Rep. Ashley Hinson for her leadership on this bill and applaud the committee for passing this common-sense bill to expand educational and upskilling efforts nationwide. We urge all lawmakers to pass it.”

Heather Madden, policy staff director at Independent Women, on the Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act:

“For many working parents, child care is costly and quality care can be difficult to find. By alleviating the cost and regulatory burden on employers who wish to provide child and dependent care assistance to their employees, the Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act makes it easier to offer these benefits to working parents. On behalf of Independent Women, I want to thank Representative Mesmer for his leadership on this important issue and urge all members to pass this common sense legislation.”
