Women have fought hard for the opportunity to compete and be taken seriously as athletes. Since the enactment of Title IX in 1972, there has been an explosion of women’s high school and college sports. Single-sex sports allow females to compete on a level playing field. But the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County jeopardizes that progress.
Applied to Title IX, Bostock will REQUIRE schools to let male athletes play on women’s teams and compete against female athletes. Ultimately, it may provide the legal justification for the elimination of all single-sex sports. The science is clear and irrefutable: if females are forced to compete with and against males, they will lose valuable opportunities. IT’S NOT FAIR, and it defeats the purpose of Title IX.
