Sarah Culvahouse Mills is an advisor with Independent Women’s Network, offering guidance on IWN chapter expansion and growth, and executing a targeted grassroots strategy to support a positive policy agenda for women.

Mills is a seasoned communications strategist and brand catalyst. She delivers high-impact integrated communications campaigns for corporate and advocacy clients, specializing in media outreach and messaging. With triple-threat White House, Senate and corporate experience, she has a 360 degree view and execution skills to move the toughest policy debates in Washington.

Before IWN, Sarah served as communications director in the U.S. Senate, advancing legislation through the Senate Commerce, Judiciary and Armed Services Committees. Previously, she advised tech, sports and advocacy clients as Vice President for the Glover Park Group. At the Heritage Foundation, Sarah delivered its first-ever presidential debate and flagship podcasts and products to reach new audiences. Earlier, Sarah held positions with PJ Media, LLC; Powell Tate|Weber Shandwick; H&K Strategies and served in the White House as Assistant Press Secretary to the First Lady Mrs. Laura Bush.

A Washington-area native, Mills graduated from the University of Virginia, where she received a B.A. in English Language and Literature and coursework towards a Masters in International Affairs at Georgetown University. She lives with her husband Jim, three boys, and Dingus the dog in Alexandria, Virginia.
