Independent Women’s Voice and top female athletes will be meeting this week with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to tell their stories about the challenges they faced as female athletes and how competing against male-bodied athletes is unfair and hurts female athletes.
Our Women’s Sports “fly in” event includes: three-time Olympic cyclist Inga Thompson; the Team USA Masters Track athlete featured in our women’s sports documentary, Cynthia Monteleone; and high school track athlete Margaret O’Neal.
We’ll be delivering important messaging materials about this issue to Congressional offices. Some of the information in the packets we’ll deliver includes:
- A “60 seconds” document to correct misperceptions on Title IX and women’s sports
- A “How to Talk About” guide on women’s sports and the threats facing them
- Full-page photographs with quote overlays that tell the stories of real female athletes
